GORHAM, Maine  -  Senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) finished the day 4-0 and claimed the top podium spot at 133 lbs to highlight the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team at the 2025 Ted Reese Invitational hosted at the Costello Sports Complex Field House.
 
The Huskies had four podium finishers and placed fourth out of 10 teams with 74 points.  The United States Coast Guard Academy Bears claimed the top team spot with 179 points followed by Vermont State University Castleton Spartans in second with 155 points.  The Spartans had four overall winners, while Coast Guard had three.
 
In addition to Craig, junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue), and sophomores Shane Moore Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue), and Jason Canavan-Dwyer (Keene, NH) each earned a podium spot.  Kyle Moore placed second at 141 lbs, while Shane finished sixth at 149 pounds.  Canavan-Dwyer placed fifth at 285.

Ranked second in the region and in the top 10 nationally at 133 lbs, Craig defeated Castleton's Aidan Shufelt 6-1 in the tournament semifinal. Shufelt entered the tourney ranked sixth in region.  Craig then faced off against no. 5 ranked Marvin Armistead of Coast Guard for the title, and earned an overwhelming 17-0 technical fall.
 
K. Moore earned extra point wins in his first two bouts defeating WPI's Mason Medina by major decision 12-0, and Coast Guard's Nathan Sayers by technical fall 15-0. Moore advanced to the 141-pound title match with an 8-2 win over Coast Guard's Christian Belford before falling in the championship in sudden victory.
