Huskies’ Wrestling Prepping to Host Ted Reese Invitational on Saturday, December 6


 GORHAM, Maine  -  Off to a solid start to the 2025-2026 season, the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team will host one of its three home events this season welcoming 10 teams to the 2025 Ted Reese Invitational on Saturday, December 6 (9:30 am) at the Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse.  The tournament will feature several wrestlers from some of the top programs in New England and in the country.
 
The Huskies will welcome teams from The United States Coast Guard Academy, Vermont State University-Castleton, Plymouth State University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Emmanuel, Maine Maritime Academy, Rochester Polytechnic Institute (NWCA), Springfield Technical Community College (NWCA), and University of New Hampshire (Club).  Coast Guard is currently the top ranked program in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA), while Castleton is ranked fourth.  The Huskies enter the tourney ranked seventh.
 
The Huskies have four wrestlers regionally ranked in the most recent NEWA Individual rankings: senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan), junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue), and sophomores Shane Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) and Jason Canavan-Dwyer (Keene, NH). Nationally-ranked at 133 lbs, Craig is a 2025 and 2023 NCAA Division III All-American and is currently ranked second in region. K. Moore, a two-time All-Region wrestler, is ranked second at 141 lbs, while his brother Shane is ranked fifth at 149 lbs. Canavan-Dwyer is ranked sixth at 285.
 
More than 20 wrestlers entering the tourney are ranked in region, and several nationally, setting up an exciting day of competition.  Action starts at 9:30 am in the Costello Field House.  Admission for the all-day event is $10 for adults, $5 for students with ID, $5 for seniors, $5 for children 12 and under, and free for children under 2, and for USM Students with valid ID.
