CASTLETON, Vermont -  Senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) and junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) each posted 2-0 records to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a pair of dual meets hosted by the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans Saturday afternoon.  Southern Maine fell to Rhode Island College Anchormen 27-18, and then dropped a 43-8 match to the No. 14 Spartans.
 
Trailing 10-0 after the first two matches against Rhode Island College, the Huskies rallied to lead the Anchorment 12-10.  Craig started the run with a dominant 16-0 win by technical fall over Kamron Fickes at 133 lbs.  Kyle Moore used a strong 16-5 win by major decision at 141 pounds over Saliou Mobe to make it a 10-9 match, before Shane Moore put USM ahead 12-10 with a hard-won 14-8 decision over Eli Silverman at 149 lbs.  However, RIC pulled away sweeping the 157, 165, 174, 184, and 197 pound events.  Sophomore Jon Lettre (Augusta, Maine/Cony) won the 285 lb bout with a win by forfeit for the 27-18 final.
 
Against the 14^th-ranked Spartans, Southern Maine led 8-5 after the 141-pound match.  Behind 5-0 after the 125 lb match, Craig notched his second win by technical fall of the day defeating VTSU-Castleton's Stone Farnsworth 15-0 to tie the match up.  K. Moore earned his second win of the day giving USM an 8-5 lead with an 11-4 decision over Nicolas Balella. However it was the last points of the match for USM for the 43-8 final.
