Strong Start Keeps Husky Senior Jake Craig in National Rankings

Craig Ranked Fifth By Open Mat Wrestling (133 lbs)

GORHAM, Maine  -  University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) remains among the nation's elite in NCAA Division III wrestling, opening his final season with a 14-1 record through five competition dates.

The Huskies' two-time NCAA Division III All-American, Craig is currently ranked fifth at 133 lbs by Open Mat Wrestling, and is ranked sixth nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA).

Earning All-American honors in 2023 and 2025, Craig has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship in each of his previous three seasons, and had to pull out of competition during the 2024 tourney due to a first-round injury. Entering his senior year with an outstanding record of 82-20, Craig's 14-1 start to the 2025-2026 season has the Husky grappler on the precipice of 100 career wins at 96-21 overall.

Wrestling at both 125 and 133 lbs during the 2024-2025 season, Craig completed his outstanding third-year as a Husky with a record of 28-8, and is one of just three Husky wrestlers in program history to earn the title of All-American more than once in their career. Additionally, Craig is a three-time All-Region wrestler.

Coming off of back-to-back podium performances winning the 133 lbs bracket at the 2025 Ted Reese Invitational and the Doug Parker Invitational, Craig and the Huskies are off until Saturday, January 3 when they will compete at the Williams College Open Invitational.
