GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's tennis team earned a key Little East Conference victory with a 5-2 win over the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans on Saturday at Gorham High School. Abby Emerson (Gorham, Maine) and sophomore
Alyssa Conley (Windham, Maine) won 6-1 and the No. 2 pair of fifth-year senior
Hanni Johnson (Livermore, Maine/Spruce Mountain) and freshman
Payton Thibodeau (Gorham, Maine) won 6-3. The Huskies also picked up a win by default in the No. 3 doubles slot.

Muriel Lattin (Litchfield, Maine/Winthrop) each won their singles match as well. Emerson defeated Stella Forte 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to move to 4-1 on the season. Conley blanked Madelyn Nonni 6-0, 6-0 to improve her singles record to 8-1 and her conference record to 6-1. Lattin earned her sixth win of the year by defeating Olivia Rutkowski 6-0, 6-3. Johnson dropped a tough No. 3 singles match to Ginevra Trevisan 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8).
