PROVIDENCE, R.I.   –  Members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team competed at the Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Open as the team arrived in Providence, Rhode Island ahead of the 2025 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals.
 
On the Mat:

• Sophomore Aidan Robichaud (Coventry, RI/Coventry) had two wins at 149 lbs, opening with a 21-4 win by technical fall over Castleton's John Marcellus, while sophomore Alberto Mendoza (McAllen, Texas/Sharyland) also had two wins in the same weight division highlighted by an 11-1 win by major decision over Coast Guard's Jordan Habben. 
• Junior Colin Sevigney (Wells, Maine) opened the 157-pound bracket with a 2:19 win by fall over Bridgewater State's Alex Guaman Castro after leading 10-1 on a pair of takedowns and a near fall. Sevigney picked up his second win by fall in the consolation bracket with a 1:02 pin over Roger Williams' Austin Rasmussen.
• Wrestling at 197, fifth-year senior Colton DeLeo (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) earned a pair of wins for the Huskies, including an 11-1 win by major decision over Jayden Reyes of New Jersey City University in the consolation semifinals.

 
Up Next:
Southern Maine returns to action on Sunday (10:00 am) for the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals.  The Huskies compete again on Saturday, February 1 (12:30 pm) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
