BANGOR, Maine – Freshman
Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) finished a stroke under par with a 71 to place to third on Sunday at the Husson Eagle Invitational. Poirier was the top placer for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team that placed second in the team standings. The Huskies shot six-over par (290) to finish in second place one stroke behind Husson University.
The Southern Maine B team had a score of 324 (+40) and were eighth on the leaderboard. Max Woodman from Husson's B team and Will Kavanaugh of the Husson A team tied for first with scores of 69 (-2)
On the Course:
• Poirier closed out his round with three birdies on the final four holes.
• Freshman
Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) tied for sixth after shooting one-over par (72). He had two birdies.
• Freshman
Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) tied for 10th with a 73 (+2) and had a pair of birdies.
• Freshman
Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) tied for 17th (74, +4) but had two birdies and ended his round with an eagle on the 18th hole.
• Junior
Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) placed 23rd with a 78 (+7) with his score helped by two birdies.
• Freshman
Taylor Farr (Gorham, Maine) placed 28th with a score of 80 (+9). He had three birdies.
• Freshman
Colby Pope (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy) shot an 81 (+10) and had a birdie on the 13th hole.
• Sophomore
Jackson Horne (Woodsville, N.H.) had an eagle on the 18th hole and a birdie on the 13th. He tied for 35th with an 82 (+11).
• Senior captain
Owen Doyle (Gardiner, Maine) placed 40th and had also had a birdie on the 13th hole.
