Portland, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team won its first USM Cup event since 2019 on Saturday with an impressive performance. The annual event involves six holes of scramble, six holes of best ball, and six holes of alternate shot with each team dividing in three scoring pairs. The team's score of 199 (-17) was led by the pairing of freshman
Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) and sophomore
Jackson Horne (Woodsville, N.H.). Moore and Horne combined to shoot seven-under par (65).

On the Course:
- Senior captains Owen Doyle (Gardiner, Maine) and Colin DeWitt (Newington, Conn.) tied for second with the pairing of junior Curan Bassingthwaite (Gorham, Maine) and Taylor Farr (Gorham, Maine). Both pairs carded 67s (-5) on the day.
- The Huskies' B team also had an impressive performance with two pairs of freshmen tying for fourth. Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) had a score of 68 (-4) as did the duo of Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) and Colby Pope (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke Academy).
- The pair of junior Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) and freshman Carter O'Connell (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) tied for ninth with a score of 75 (+3).
- Freshman Rhys Jones (Thomaston, Maine/Oceanside) was paired with Will Ivers from Saint Joseph's and the non-scoring pair tied for seventh after shoot par.
