CASCO, Maine – Freshman
Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team earned medalist honor at the 2024 John Queenan Memorial Invitation on Wednesday by shooting three-over par (75). His score tied with Gordon College's Mario Matteao for the best of the day and each competitor was named co-medalist. The Huskies placed second with a team score of 315 (+27) to finish three strokes behind Gordon in the team standings. The event was held at Point Sebago Golf Course.

On the Course:
- Fournier shot par on 12 holes and had a pair of birdies.
- Freshman Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) tied for third with a 76 (+3). He had two birdies and 11 pars.
- Freshman Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) carded an 81 (+9) to tie for 12th. His round started with a birdie on the first hole and ended with another on the 18th hole.
- Reigning Little East Conference Player and Rookie of the Week Taylor Farr (Gorham, Maine) tied for 21st with an 83 (+10). Â
- Junior Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) rounded out the competition for the Huskies with a score of 87 (+15) to place 32nd.

The Huskies will host the annual USM Cup on Saturday at Riverside Golf Course. A modified-format event, the USM Cup consists of six holes of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot.
