GORHAM, Maine – Junior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester), junior
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) and senior
Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's track & field team have earned All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). All-Region honors are awarded to the top five performers in each men's and women's track and field event and the members of the top three relay teams in each NCAA Division III region from the season-ending descending order list of performances.
Barnes and Bourdreau each earned All-Region status in both the shot put and the discus. Jalbert earned the honor for her performance in the high jump.
Barnes, who will be competing on Thursday at the NCAA Division III National Championships in the discus, had top-three marks in the East region in both of her events. Her shot put mark of 13.16m broke the program record and placed her second at the Division III New England Championships. She also broke own program record in the discus with a throw of 45.46m last week at the Augustana College Midwest Final Qualifier. Her throw gave her the third-best mark in the region and earned her a trip to the National Championships with the 20th best mark in the country.
Boudreau had a career day at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships with personal-best marks in the shot put and the discus. She placed third in the discus with a mark of 43.74m and fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.99m. She ranked fourth in the region in each event. Boudreau trails only Barnes on the program leaderboard in each event.
Jalbert ranked fourth in the region in the high jump at 1.63m, a mark she cleared to place first at the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Relays in April. Her mark is tied for the best in program history. She also tied for seventh in the region in the long jump with a mark of 5.37m.
Barnes and Boudreau now have earned All-Region honors four times for the outdoor season. Barnes was All-Region in both last events in 2023 while Boudreau earned the honors in 2022. This is the first time that Jalbert has been named All-Region for the outdoor track & field season.
