GORHAM, Maine – Junior Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's track & field team has qualified for the 2024 NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Meet in the discus. Barnes will be competing at the national championships for the first time in her career after just missing the cut in the 2023 outdoor season.

Barnes earned her spot on the final day of qualifying by breaking her own program record in the discus yesterday at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier with a throw of 45.46m. Her distance is 21st in the country and was the second-best in the open portion of the meet. Barnes won the Little East Conference title in both the shot put and the discus and her mark is the third-best in the East region.

The discus is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at 3:00 pm at the championship meet hosted at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
