BREWSTER, Mass. – The University of Southern Maine men's golf team finished seventh in a field of 22 teams at the 89th annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship following today's second round. The Huskies finished the event with a two-round score of 622 (+46). The team was led by freshmen Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) who tied for 13th overall. Each player shot a 77 (+5) today to finish with a two-round score of 151 (+7).
 
Freshmen Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) and Taylor Farr (Gorham, Maine) each had solid rounds as well and climbed up the leaderboard on day two.
 
Endicott College won the event with a two-day score of 569 (-7) led by co-medalists Will Pierce and Brady Burke. Each player shot five-under par 139. The Huskies were the top Little East Conference team in attendance finishing seven strokes ahead of Eastern Connecticut State University.
 
On the Course:

• Fournier had a pair of birdies and 10 pars on the day
• Poirier had four birdies in his round and
• Moore shot a 79 (+7) to bring his two-round total to 161 (+17). He moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 53rd and had a team-leading five birdies.
• Freshman Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) tied for 61st with a two-round score of 163 (+19).
• Farr shot an 81 (+9) to bring his final score to 166 (+22). He moved up 12 spots on the leaderboard during the final round to tie for 73rd.

This weekend's event concludes the fall season for the Huskies. The team will return to action in the spring and compete at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship from May 20-23 at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, N.Y.
