Olivia Mosca Named 2023 Women’s Cross Country Captain

GORHAM, Maine – Junior Olivia Mosca (Brewer, Maine) has been named the captain of the University of Southern Maine women's cross country team for the 2023 season.
 
Mosca has earned First Team All-Little East Conference honors in each of her first two cross country seasons. In 2021 she was the conference runner-up at the LEC Championship meet and last year she placed fourth. A three-season runner for the Huskies, Mosca won the LEC indoor title in the mile and 3000 meters last winter and was a member of the conference champion 4x800 relay team during the outdoor season.
 
A History major, Mosca has earned numerous academic accolades. She earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the 2022-23 academic year. She also earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic Athlete honors for the 2022 cross country season thanks to her grades and her performance at the 2022 NCAA Division III East Regional Championship where she placed 54th. At the conference level she was named to LEC All-Academic for the Fall, Winter, and Spring last season and has made the LEC Academic Honor Roll in each of her four semesters.
 
Mosca and the Huskies will compete next at the UMass Dartmouth Invite at the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course on September 16.
