GORHAM, Maine – Fourteen members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's ice hockey team have been named to the 2022-2023 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) All-Academic Team. To be eligible for All-Academic recognition a student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have completed one full year at their current institution by the beginning of the hockey season. Student-athletes that were freshmen or first-years transfer during the 2022-23 season were not eligible.

Seven of the 14 Southern Maine representatives have now earned Academic All-NEHC honors multiple times in their career led by four-time honoree
Tyler Gardiner (Watertown, Mass.) who is a graduate student. Seniors
Tanner McClure (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and
Nick Ritmo (Niskayuna, N.Y.) are now three-time NEHC All-Academic Team selections. Juniors
Zach Ellsworth (Saranac Lake, N.Y.),
Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass.),
Christopher Morrison (Ridgefield, Conn.) and
Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) also earned spots on the All-Academic team last season and are now two-time honorees. Gardiner, McClure and Ouellette each recently earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

Seven sophomores earned All-Academic honors as well. The honorees from the sophomore class include

Azam Jiwa (Calgary, Alberta),
Nick Librizzi (Raleigh, N.C.),
Tyler Mitchell (Burlington, Ontario),
Mason Palmer (Cumming, Ga.),
Kyle Penton (Waltham, Mass.) and
Jeff Pollara (Braintree, Mass.).
