GORHAM, Maine – Four members of the University of Southern Maine women's track and field team have been named All-Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA). Sophomore
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) earned honors in the both the shot put and the discus, freshmen
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) was named All-Region in the javelin, sophomore
Anna Reny (Gardiner, Maine/Cony) received recognition for the 400-meter hurdles and senior
Sophia Slovenski (Cape Neddick, Maine/Phillips Academy) was awarded All-Region status in the pole vault.

All-Region honors are awarded to the top five performers in each men's and women's track & field event and the members of the top three relay teams in each NCAA Division III region from the season-ending descending order list of performances. The Huskies compete in the East region.

Barnes broke program records this season in both events and broke the shot put record twice. Her shot put mark of 13.11m from the New England DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships ranks second in the region. Her program discus record of 43.99m won her the event at the Pine Tree State Classic in April. Her distance in the discus currently ranks 23rd in Division III this season. Barnes was selected as the 2023 Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Year after winning both the shot put (12.68m) and discus (43.44m) and setting new LEC Championship records in both events.

Reitchel had the best javelin distance in the East region this season and the best in New England as well. Her throw of 45.49m won her the javelin title at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend and is the fifth-best in the country. Her distance is also the second-best in program history. The 2023 LEC Field Rookie of the Year, Reitchel was the conference champion in the javelin.

Reny also was the top performer in the region in her event with a 400-meter hurdles time of 1:01.70. at the NEICAAA Championships. The time placed her fifth in the event in a field that included some of New England's best athletes from all three NCAA divisions. Her time is the 10th-fastest in team history. After winning her second consecutive LEC title in the 400-meter hurdles Reny was crowned the 2023 LEC Track Athlete of the Year. She also was part of the Huskies' 4x100 team that won a conference title.

Slovenski's mark of 3.60m was also set at the NEICAAA Championships and tied for the third-best in the region. Slovenski repeated as the LEC champion in the pole vault earlier this season and has earned All-Region honors in the event in each of the past three seasons.
