GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's lacrosse team has been selected to the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Senior All-Star game. Chosen for the East roster at attack and will square off against the West team on Friday, June 3 (7:00 pm) at Providence College's Anderson Stadium.
Playing and starting in all 13 of the Huskies' 2022 games, James set the program's record for points in a game registering 13 points in USM's 25-12 win over Salem State (April 20, 2022). Early in the season, James established the Huskies' single game record for goals, scoring nine against Norwich (March 13, 2022).
One of the Huskies' team captains, James completed an outstanding career at Hannaford Field making a mark in USM record books, and will suit up one final time for the NEILA All-Star game. Scoring a team-leading 45 goals in 2022, James is the Huskies single-season leader in goals, goals per game (3.46), points (67), points per game (5.15). His 22 assists in 2022 puts him at seventh in single-season marks. In 38 career games, James has 80 goals, 58 assists and 138 points. Averaging 2.11 goals per game, James is second in USM career records, while his 3.63 points per game is ranked first.
All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within NEILA. Players were chosen by a committee, awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions (I, II, III), who played their college career in the New England region. The NEILA Senior All-Star game is the only one of its kind, a regional all-star game, which includes players from all three NCAA divisions.
