GORHAM, Maine – The no. 7 regionally ranked University of Southern Maine women's outdoor track and field team will compete at the Little East Conference outdoor track and field championship meet on Saturday, April 30 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Participating Teams: Castleton, Eastern Connecticut State, Keene State, Plymouth State, Rhode Island College, UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth, and the University of Southern Maine.
History: The Huskies go into the conference championship meet as the reigning champions and have won 20 of the last 23 Little East Conference outdoor track and field championships.
Preview: The Huskies return nineteen athletes from their 2021 Little East Conference champion roster, many of whom earned first place finishes at last year's event. At the 2021 meet,
Sophia Slovenski (Cape Neddick, Maine/Phillips Academy) won both the pole vault and the javelin, while
Lucy Knowlton (Portland, Maine/ Leavitt) took home individual titles in the mile and 5,000 meter run.
Catriona Gould (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) won the 100m dash and Rachel Raymond (East Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) won the 3,000m steeplechase.
Going into the meet, numerous Huskies hold the top mark in the conference in their respective events. Rosemary Train (Long Island, Maine/Cheverus) holds the fastest time in the conference in the 800m run, while Knowlton is ranked first in the 1500, 5000, and 10,000 meter runs. Olivia Mosca (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) sits behind Knowlton and is third in both the 1500 and 5000 meter runs. In the 400m hurdles, Anna Reny (Gardiner, Maine/Cony) owns the fastest time this season by over eight seconds. The Huskies also currently have the fastest times in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) has the top marks in both the high jump and the javelin, and Slovenski leads the conference in the pole vault. Joining Jalbert in the top of the conference in the high jump are Olivia Richmond (Jefferson, Maine/Lincoln Academy), Katelyn Smith (Windham, Maine/Windham), and Cassandra Kane (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat), who have the third, fourth, and fifth best marks in the conference. In the javelin, Catherine Close (Orleans, Vt./Lake Region Union) and Alexis Adams (Concord, NH/Concord) sit behind Jalbert in third and fifth.
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) sits in first in the discus and third in the shot put, while Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) owns the top seed in the shot put and is second in the discus.
