Box Score GORHAM, Maine -- The University of Southern Maine Men's Tennis team won two singles matches and one doubles match against Rhode Island College during their Little East Conference opener in Gorham. 

The Huskies opened the day with a win at second doubles where Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, QC/College Antoine Girourard) and Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, QC/École Secondaire L'Odyssée) took down Josh Brien (Johnston, RI/Johnston) and Jack Cadden (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester) in a close match, the final score being 8-7. 

The Anchormen picked up wins at first doubles and third doubles where Alex Bourque (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) and Noah Morin (Smithfield, RI/Smithfield) bested Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) and Zac Howe (Arundel, ME/ Thornton Academy) 8-1, and Elijah Gouin (Glocester, RI/Ponaganset) and Zach Siemmao (Wakefield, RI/South Kingstown) defeated Ethan Rudnicki (Levant, ME/Hermon) and Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, QC/St. Lawrence) 8-2 respectively. 

Southern Maine picked up two wins out of the six singles matches. Bartuccio-Pereira fought hard and beat Brien 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at second singles. Additionally, Gignac came out ahead of Dylan Tashdjian (Riverside, RI/East Providence) at sixth singles 6-0, 6-3. 

Rhode Island took the remaining four singles wins to secure their 6-3 victory over the Huskies. Bourque came out ahead of Ouellette 6-4, 6-1 at first singles. At third singles, Morin beat Desmarais 6-0, 6-2, and at fourth singles Gouin beat Howe 6-1, 6-0. Finally, Cadden bested Rudnicki 6-4, 6-3 at fifth singles to round out the Anchormen's triumph. 

With the win, the Anchormen move to 5-0 on the season, while the Huskies now post a 1-1 record. 

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday, April 9 at 1pm in Gorham where they will host Colby-Sawyer College.
