WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The No. 3 seed UMass Boston Beacons defeated the No. 6 University of Southern Maine Huskies by a score of 4-0 on Tuesday morning in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Little East Conference Men's Championship Tournament. The Beacons took the doubles points by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles before clinching the match with three singles wins.
The UMass Boston pair of William Kubinec and Thomas Ameral defeated Southern Maine's top duo of freshman
Bowdoin Allen (Mount Desert, Maine/Mount Desert Island) and sophomore
Charlie Bitar (Perry, Maine/Calais) 6-1. A 6-1 win by James Tiger Li and Joseph Malone over juniors
Kayde Kinaschuk (Calgary, Alberta) and
Owen Drummey (Falmouth, Maine) clinched the doubles point for the Beacons.
The Beacons then won the first three singles matches to take the match and advance to the semifinals. Dominik Dwyer defeating Allen 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Kubinec earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bitar in the No. 2 match. Ameral defeated senior
Landon Weaver (Bowdoinham, Maine/ Mt. Ararat) 6-2, 6-1 to give the Beacons the 4-0 win.
Kinaschuk finishes the season with a 5-4 record in singles matches. He is the first Husky to end the season with a winning singles record since Weaver went 6-2 as a freshman in 2023.
