GORHAM, ME – The University of Southern Maine women's cross country team will travel south to Boston, Mass. for the 2022 Little East Conference (LEC) Cross Country Championship race on Saturday, October 29th.
Participating Programs: The Huskies will compete in a full LEC field consisting of Castleton University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Keene State College, Plymouth State University, Rhode Island College, UMass-Boston, UMass-Dartmouth, and Western Connecticut State University.
USM at the Little East Conference Championship: The Huskies have won six conference championships, starting with the inaugural LEC Championship in 1988. During this time 10 Huskies have claimed the individual title, most recently Molly Carl in 2012. At last year's conference championship, the Huskies finished fifth led by
Olivia Mosca (Brewer, Maine), who placed second overall and earned both All-Conference honors and the conference's Rookie of the Year Award.
Scouting the Huskies: The Huskies have competed in four races coming into the conference championships, most recently posting an 11
th place finish at the Suffolk Invitational on October 15.
Time and Location: Saturday, October 29th at 11am at Franklin Park.
Husky Spotlight: Reigning LEC Rookie of the Year
Olivia Mosca (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) has been the top finisher for the Huskies at both of the events she has competed in this season. Mosca placed 22nd at the Maine State Invite with a 5K time of 19:25.1. At the Suffolk Invitational, she finished 33
rd in the 6K with a time of 25:29.8.
In addition to Mosca the Huskies have a strong group of freshmen who have run well this season including
Lucy Depolito (North Andover, Mass) and
AnnMarie Limberger (Vassalboro, Maine/Waterville).
