STANDISH, Maine -- The visiting Norwich University Cadets ran off a string of five unanswered goals in the second half to pull away for a 10-6 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon.  The game was played at Saint Joseph's College due to snow still covering USM's Hannaford Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Cadets and got them back to .500 at 2-2.  The Huskies dropped their second straight to slip to 1-2 on the season.

Down 4-2 at halftime, the Huskies scored the first goal of the third quarter when junior Paul Leonardo (Groton, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) converted from senior Seth Wing (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area) at 12:45 to close within one.

The Cadets scored the next five goals over a 14-minute span to open up an insurmountable lead.  Sophomore Jack Anzalone (Ridgewood, N.J.) netted an unassisted marker at 11:33, and senior Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) made it 6-3 scoring an up-goal off a feed from senior Michael Cashman (East Kingston, N.H.) at 9:11.  Senior Ian Kennedy (Gloucester, Mass.) scored the next three goals to make it 9-3 early in the fourth quarter.

Rookie Steve Gilbert (Litchfield, Maine/Oak Hill) and senior Nate DelGiudice (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) found the net for USM to close the gap and give the Huskies a spark, but senior Matt Thresher (Somers, Conn.) scored a critical man-down goal to break the Huskies' momentum.

USM sophomore Bryce Randall (Portland, Maine/Deering) scored at the end of the man-up situation at 7:35, but that would be the final goal of the game.

Kennedy led all scorers with three goals.  Jenkins and Anzalone scored twice, and Cashman and junior Cody Moore (Canton, N.Y.) each dished out two assists.  Moore also had a goal.  Junior goalie Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) recorded 10 saves to earn his second win.

Randall was the Huskies lone multiple goal scorer.  Wing had a goal and two assists, and Leonardo had a goal and an assist.  Senior goalie Zach Bessette (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook) made 13 saves.

Southern Maine travels to Curry College for its next game on Tuesday (4 p.m.).  Norwich will play at in-state rival Castleton University on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
