Thomas Edges Southern Maine 6-3

            GORHAM, Maine  - Junior Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) defeated freshman Andy MacEachern (Nashua, N.H./Merrimack) 6-3, 6-2 at third singles to lead a sweep of the three through sixth position in singles action as the Thomas College Terriers defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-3 in a non-conference men's tennis match Thursday afternoon at the Gorham High School tennis courts.

            Southern Maine remains winless on the season at 0-5.  Thomas improves to 8-4 overall winning its seventh straight match. 

            Thomas led USM 2-1 after the doubles points played out and then took four of the six singles points en route to the win.   Southern Maine senior Kyle Curley (Gorham, Maine) and junior Samuel Holland (Falmouth, Maine) each were double-winners for the Huskies.  Curley and Holland combined for an 8-3 win at first doubles over the TC tandem of Disch and freshman Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine).  Curley defeated Chasse 6-2, 6-4 at first singles, and Holland battled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the second position over sophomore Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine).

            Southern Maine hosts UMass Boston on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) in a Little East Conference tilt.  Thomas College travels to Castleton on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) for a NAC match
