GORHAM, Maine – Senior Tyler Adams (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) remained undefeated in singles action but the Colby College Mules defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at Gorham High School Tennis Courts.
With the win, Colby College improves to 5-11 overall, while the Huskies suffer just their second loss of the season to stand at 8-2.
Southern Maine led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles points, as Adams and junior Kyle Curley (Gorham, Maine) defeated senior Mark HoSang (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore Shaw Speer (Old Greenwich, Conn.) 8-4 at first doubles. Huskies' senior Eric Berry-Sandelin (South Portland, Maine) and sophomore Samuel Holland (Falmouth, Maine) also scored a point for USM claiming a victory at second doubles defeating the Colby tandem of sophomore Douglas Mo (Little Neck, N.Y./Benjamin Cardozo) and freshman Alexander Thrane (New York, N.Y./Columbia Grammar & Prep).
Colby captured five of the six singles points to earn the win, however. Adams was the lone victory defeating HoSang 6-4, 6-2 at the top of the order.
Southern Maine concludes its regular season at Salem State on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.)
