GORHAM, Maine -- The University of Southern Maine men's lacrosse team scored a single-game record 25 goals, including 13 consecutive to open the game, to defeat the University of Maine at Farmington 25-2 in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Sophomore attack Nate DelGiudice (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) led the Huskies' offense with 10 points on five goals and five assists. DelGiudice's 10 points were two shy of the school single-game record. Freshman Justin Roberge (Sanford, Maine) and senior Travis St. Pierre (Sebago, Maine/Mountain Valley) scored the UMF goals. Rookie goalie Caleb Carr (Augusta, Maine/Cony) had 10 saves.
The Huskies came out firing on all cylinders taking a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Smith scored all three of his goals in the opening 15 minutes. DelGiudice and junior Seth Wing (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area) each had a pair of markers.
In the second quarter, USM pushed the lead to 13-0 before Roberge put the Beavers on the board at 10:06 after taking a pass from rookie Skylar McMillan (Gardiner, Maine).
The goals kept coming for USM in the third quarter as five different players found the net. Shane was the lone repeat scorer in the period.
St. Pierre netted the Beavers second goal 19 seconds into the fourth quarter converting a feed from senior Cameron McAllister (Yarmouth, Maine). DelGiudice, Watts and junior Sam Fortin (Brunswick, Maine) added goals for the Huskies.
The Huskies dominated the stat sheet out shooting the Beavers 49-16 for the game and winning the battle for ground balls 44-25. USM rookie faceoff man Josh Murphy (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook) won 14 of 25 faceoffs and scooped up a game-high 11 ground balls.
