BRUNSWICK, Maine – In their second match of the day the University of Southern Maine Huskies fell to fifth-ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears 9-0 at the Pickard Tennis Courts in Brunswick, Maine.
Suffering its second consecutive loss of the day, Southern Maine falls to 2-4. All four of the Huskies losses this season have come at the hands of ranked opponents. Bowdoin College improves to 8-2 with the win.
The Polar Bears swept all three doubles points and then rolled through the six singles points to secure the 9-0 win over Southern Maine. Freshmen Chase Savage (Bernardsville, N.J./Delbarton) and Luke Trinka (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) led the way for Bowdoin from the first doubles spot downing USM junior Adam Whitman (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) and sophomore Scott Gagne (Lewiston, Maine) 8-1.
Southern Maine travels to Colby-Sawyer for a non-conference match on Thursday (4:00 p.m.) Bowdoin returns to action on Friday (3:00 p.m.)
