            FARMINGTON, Maine – Freshman midfielder Meryl Bond's (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) goal in the 77th minute proved to be the decisive marker as the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers posted a 2-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

            UMaine-Farmington improved to 5-3-0, matching the program's win total of a year ago.  USM fell to 1-8-0 with the loss.

            Bond chipped in a shot from inside the 18-yard box after taking a pass from senior Noelle Moulton (Cape Neddick, Maine/York).   The assist was the first of the season for Moulton.

            Junior midfielder Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) padded the UMaine-Farmington lead in the 86th minute, finding a loose ball inside the Huskies' 18 and scoring unassisted.  The blast was one of Tuttle's team-high seven shots on the afternoon.

            UMF outshot Southern Maine 18-8 over the 90 minutes.  The Beavers also took five corner kicks on the afternoon, while the Huskies had none.

            Junior goalkeeper Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) recorded one save en route to her first shutout of the season, and third of her career, for UMF.  Southern Maine freshman Marissa Temple (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) played the opening 45 minutes making two saves.  Senior Katie Cobb (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) came on for the second half and registered five saves.

            USM returns to action on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when it faces the University of Massachusetts Boston in a Little East Conference battle in Boston.  UMaine-Farmington returns to the pitch on Saturday (2:30 p.m.) when it hosts Colby-Sawyer College in a North Atlantic Conference matchup.
