Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Junior Sean Curran (Wilmette, Ill.) and freshman Steve Servideo (Medford, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals as the Connecticut College Camels defeated the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies, 6-1, in an ECAC Men's East-NESCAC inter-league game Friday night at Dayton Arena.
The victory snapped a four-game losing skid for the Camels, and improved their record to 7-11-3 overall and 6-9-1 in league games. The Huskies fall to 5-12-4 overall and 3-11-2 in the league.
Curran lit the lamp twice, and Servideo once, in the first period as the Camels raced out to a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes. The pair to combined to score 15 seconds apart to stake the host side to a 2-0 lead by the 4:03 mark. Senior Jordan Gray (Mississauga, Ontario) had the Camels' fourth goal of the period.
The teams traded goals in the middle period as USM sophomore John Grandinetti (Ottawa, Ontario) and CC rookie Mike Sinsigalli (Wilton, Conn.) each lit the lamp. Grandinetti's marker, off assists from junior Dan Rautenberg (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and sophomore Craig Perham (Arundel, Maine), cut the deficit to 4-1 at 6:33, but that would be as close as the Huskies would get. Sinsigalli restored the Camels' four-goal margin at 16:33.
Servideo tallied the only goal of the final period at 6:35. Gray would finish the game with a goal and two assists, Sinsigalli chipped in a goal and an assist, and senior Ryan Riffe (South Berwick, Maine) and freshman Adam Rimmer (Newbury, Mass.) each had a pair of helpers, for the Camels.
Junior goalie Andrew Margolin (Mahwah, N.J.) backstopped the Camels stopping 29 of 30 shots to earn the win. Freshman Braely Torris (Eckville, Alberta) had 10 saves in the opening period for USM before giving way to junior Mason St. Hilaire (Saco, Maine) who recorded 20 saves over the final two periods.
Southern Maine heads to Tufts University on Saturday (4:00 p.m.). Conn. College will host the University of New England on Saturday (3:00 p.m.).
