            NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Heidi DeHaan (Lewiston, Maine/St. Dominic) scored her second goal of the match 1:53 into the second sudden-death overtime period to give the University of Southern Maine women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday afternoon in a Little East Conference game at Cressy Field.

            The win was the second straight in conference play for the Huskies, and improved their record to 4-7-0 overall and 2-1-0 in LEC play.  The Corsairs slip to 3-8-0 overall and are winless in three LEC outings.

            After the scoreless first overtime period, DeHaan scored her second game-winning goal of the season early in the second overtime beating UMD senior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, Mass.) on a one-vs-one breakaway.

            DeHaan gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when she converted a pass from junior Bridget FitzGerald (Concord, N.H./Tilton) into her fourth goal of the campaign.

            UMD drew even in the 51st minute as freshman Erica Jonasson (Wrentham, Mass./Tri-County) found the net off an assist from classmate Tori Pierce (Tiverton, R.I.).

            Later in the second half, USM junior goalkeeper Kat Rothe (Leeds, Maine/Leavitt Area) kept the match even as she stopped a penalty kick.  Rothe would finish the match with 10 saves.  Braga recorded two saves.

            UMass Dartmouth had an 18-9 edge in shots, and both sides had two corner kicks.

            Southern Maine will host Bates College in its next match on Tuesday (4:00 p.m.).  UMD travels to Bridgewater State College on Tuesday (3:30 p.m.).
