GORHAM, Maine – Senior Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) has been chosen as the captain for the 2026 University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's cross country team. Evans also served as a team captain last season.
 
Evans finished 17th at the LEC Championships last season with a personal-best time of 26:31.9 in the 8k. He also placed 72nd at the NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships with a time of 26:50.2. The Mechanical Engineering major has competed in 18 meets in his cross country career. In addition to his cross country achievements, Evans has earned numerous all-conference honors for the indoor and outdoor season, including the 2025 LEC title in the indoor 600 meters. A Mechanical Engineering major, Evans was named to the Winter 2024-25 LEC All-Academic Team, and is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
Evans and the Huskies will open the season on Friday, September 4 at the University of New England's Ron Ouellette Invitational in Biddeford, Maine.
