Alex Grant and Jaden Poirier Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GORHAM, Maine – Sophomores Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) and Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team have earned 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Both athletes are being honored as part of the At-Large program, which covers USM-sponsored sports of field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, golf, and wrestling.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. For golf, the student-athlete also must have been in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament. Both athletes were part of the lineup that won Southern Maine its second consecutive Little East Conference title in October.
 
Grant was the top performer for the Huskies at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship with a score of 150 (+7) over the first two rounds to place in the top 90 before missing the cut. He also earned Second Team All-LEC honors by tying for eighth at the LEC Championship with a two-round score of 170 (+28). The 2025-26 season saw Grant place first at both the Husson Invitational (67, -4) and the Mariners Invitational (68, -2) and tied for first at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational (71, -1). An Information Technology major, Grant was named to the Fall 2025 LEC All-Academic Team and is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
Poirier, who is majoring in Management, shot a 157 (+14) at the NCAA Division III National Championship to tie for 164th. The sophomore tied for 12th at the LEC Championship with a two-round score of 172 (+30). Poirier tied for first at two events during the season. The first was the USM Husky Classic where he shot a 69 (-3) and the second was the UMaine Farmington Invitational where he fired a 72 (+2). A First Team All-LEC performer in 2024 as the runner-up at the conference tournament, Poirier is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete and was named to the Fall 2025 LEC All-Academic Team.
