HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The University of Southern Maine men's golf team made its second consecutive NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship appearance on Tuesday at the Las Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. However, the first round was suspended due to weather before the Huskies could complete their round. The competition will continue tomorrow with the rest of round one and the entirety of round two. The Huskies started on the 10th hole and had three competitors complete the back nine before the suspension.
Freshman
Keenan Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) was shooting five-over-par through 10 holes at the time play was suspended. Sophomore
Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) was three-over through nine holes for the best start of the day for the Huskies and birdied the 13th hole. Sophomore
Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) was a stroke behind him at four-over through nine holes as well.
Sophomore
Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) had a birdie on the opening hole and is at five-over through eight holes. Sophomore
Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) is eight-over through eight holes.
The competition will resume at 7:30 am tomorrow. After the second round, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams for the final two rounds.
