GORHAM, Maine – Recently named the Little East Conference Player of the week, senior
Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' baseball team has also been named the Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) Player of the Week. Douin is earning weekly honors from the MCBSA for the second time this season and is the third Husky baseball player to be recognized.
Douin turned in a huge week at the plate, hitting .421 (8-for-19) with a .947 slugging percentage as Southern Maine went 3-1. He scored six times, drove in nine runs, and piled up five extra-base hits, highlighted by three triples. He opened the week with a triple and three RBI in a win over Plymouth State, then followed with a two-triple, two-run, one-RBI performance in a non-conference victory over Clark. Douin capped the week by going 5-for6 with a double, a home run, and five RBI in a conference win over Keene State.
Douin is hitting .383 on the season in 22 games played. He has 30 RBI and 36 runs scored to go with five doubles, four triples and six home runs for a.713 slugging percentage and a .513 on-base percentage.
Southern Maine (18-5, 8-1 Little East) hosts nationally-ranked Endicott College today at 3:30 pm. The Huskies remain at home and face MIT on Saturday (1:00 pm) before hitting the road for back-to-back games at Plymouth State on Tuesday (3:00) and Saint Joseph's College (4:00 pm).
