Earning their spots at the 2026 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championship, senior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine) and junior
Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue (NY)) will represent the University of Southern Maine Huskies this coming weekend March 13-14 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Craig and Moore will be two of 210 qualified competitors at the 2026 NCAA Championship. All 210 qualified for the championship by placing in the top three of their respective weight classes at one of the seven NCAA regional championships held nearly two weeks ago around the country.
A two-time All-Region wrestler, Moore is making his first appearance in the national tourney and will compete in the 141-pound bracket. Narrowly missing out on the 2025 tourney and placing fourth in region as a sophomore, Moore earned a second-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship. Holding a 21-3 record to being the national championship tourney, Moore was named the 2024 New England Wrestling Association Rookie Team, and was a 2025 NEWA Honorable Mention pick.
Heading to nationals for the fourth time in his career, Craig is a two-time NCAA All-American placing fourth at 125 in 2023, and sixth at 133 in 2025. Craig's 2024 championship was cut short due to injury. Just the third Husky in program history to claim the title of NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Champion, Craig punched his return ticket to nationals winning the 133-pound bracket. Posting a perfect 4-0 record at the regional championship, Craig is 116-24 in his career and now sits in fifth place in the Huskies' all-time wins leader board. Sitting at 32-2 headed into the national championship tourney, is one of eight Southern Maine wrestlers to earn 100 wins in their career: 1. Dan Del Gallo (137); T2.Â
Mike Morin (133); T2. Peter Del Gallo (133); 4. CJ Luth (120); 5.Â
Jake Craig (116); 6.Â
Colby Frost (115); 7. Brendan Weir (110); 8. Mike Risti (103).
Championship action will begin on at 10:00 am on Friday for session one (preliminary rounds one and two and consolation first round). After a break in the action, session two will begin at 5 pm and will include championship quarterfinals and consolation second and third rounds. Advancing athletes will compete for podium position on Saturday, March 14 beginning at 10 am. The Parade of All-Americans is scheduled for 6 pm, and the championship finals are slated for 7 pm.
Each championship event is conducted by 10 weight classes — 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197 and heavyweight (183-285 lbs). The top eight wrestlers will be seeded with the remaining ten wrestlers drawn randomly.
