University of Southern Maine Wrestling Preps for 2026 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship

Jake Craig, Kyle Moore and Shane Moore Enter Regional Championship Among Ranked Competitors

GORHAM, Maine  –  The University of Southern Maine Huskies wrestling team is prepped and ready to go for one of its most consequential tournaments of the season: the 2026 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship. Ready to go, the Huskies are on their way to the New London, Connecticut and the United States Coast Guard Academy's Dr. Gregory Field House for the two-day tournament February 28-March 1.  
 
The 2026 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship will feature ~200 wrestlers from 19 NCAA Division III programs vying for the NCAA Regional Championship team title, and individual berths into the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament held March 13-14 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse. Individually, the top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will earn a spot in the National Championship.
 
Three teams ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) poll will be participating in the upcoming regional championship, including No. 12 Springfield College, No. 13 Williams College and No. 15 Coast Guard, .
 
Six NCAA Division III All-American return to the fray this tournament, including the Huskies' own, senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan). Qualifying for the NCAA Championship for the third time in his career in 2025, Craig finished sixth nationally at 125 lbs. Currently the fourth-ranked wrestler in his weight class (133 lbs) in NCAA Division III, Craig is 28-2 headed into the regional championship, and is one of three Huskies ranked in-region. Craig is also ranked no. 1 in the New England region. Craig is 112-24 in his career and is currently sixth in all-time wins as a Husky. He is one of eight Southern Maine wrestlers to earn 100 wins in their career: 1. Dan Del Gallo (137); T2. Mike Morin (133); T2. Peter Del Gallo (133); 4. CJ Luth (120); 5. Colby Frost (115); 6. Jake Craig (112); 7. Brendan Weir (110); 8. Mike Risti (103).
 
Junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue (NY)) enters the regional championship ranked second in New England at 141 lbs. Just missing out the national tournament as a sophomore placing fourth at the regional championship, Moore entered this weekend's tourney with an 18-3 record.  A two-time All-New England Wrestling Association selection, Moore has seven extra-point wins this season, and enters the tourney with a career record of 65-25.
 
Ranked seventh in the region at 149 lbs, Huskies' sophomore Shane Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue (NY)) is looking to punch his ticket to nationals. Entering the weekend at 22-6.  Moore has established himself as a strong contender in his sophomore season after a limited rookie campaign.
 
Action begins on Saturday, March 1. Doors open to spectators at 9:00 am with preliminary round matches starting at 10 am and will conclude with the consolation second and third rounds, wrapping up at approximately 7:30 pm. Sunday's championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals will start at 10:00 am and continue through the championship and third/fourth place matches beginning at approximately 5:30 pm.  Following the championship events, will be an awards ceremony.
 
Single day spectator tickets are $IO for adults, and $5 for students, seniors, and children. Children 2 and under are granted free admission. All spectators above the age of 2 and those not receiving credentials are required to purchase a ticket. The United States Coast Guard Academy reminds all attending that a valid Real ID will need to be shown at the gate for entrance.

Admission
Single day spectator tickets are $IO for adults, and $5 for students, seniors, and children. Children 2 and under are granted free admission. All spectators above the age of 2 and those not receiving credentials are required to purchase a ticket.
 
Please note that the USCGA is REAL ID compliant. All visitors must have a REAL ID or compliant form of identification, to gain access to campus.
