GORHAM, Maine – University of Southern Maine men's ice hockey coach
Matt Pinchevsky has announced that former Husky standouts Curtis Judd and Nick Nault have joined the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's ice hockey coaching staff as volunteer assistants. Judd will work the program's forwards and Nault will work with the defensemen.
Judd, a 2022-2023 Second Team All-New England Hockey Conference selection, played in 83 games over his Southern Maine career with 29 goals and 39 assists for 68 points. Serving as an assistant captain in 2022-2023, Judd scored 15 goals and dished out 10 assists for 25 total points and was named a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award for the best American-born college Division II/III hockey player in New England. His 15 goals during that season are tied for 11th in program history. One of the most prolific scorers in program history, he is tied for 21st in career goals, tied for 23rd in career assists and also ranks 26th in career points. He earned his degree in Economics in 2024. After graduating from Southern Maine, Judd played 13 games in the SPHL (formerly the Southern Professional Hockey League) with the Evansville Thunderbolts and the Fayetteville Marksmen.
Nault, a 2024-25 team captain, played in 90 games from 2021-2025. One of the most consistent defenders for the Huskies, Nault blocked 104 shots in his career. In addition to his work on defense, Nault recorded four goals and six assists in his career. Three of those goals came in his senior season, including a game-winning goal in overtime to defeat No. 14 Endicott College in the season-opener. Following his senior season, Nault played two games for the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Prospects Hockey League. Nault majored in Business Management during his time with the Huskies.
The Huskies will play exhibition games against the University of New England on Friday, October 23 at home and at Curry College on Saturday, October 24. The team opens the season on Friday, October 30 at 7:00 pm against Endicott College in the USM Ice Arena.
