Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) and junior
Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) have earned weekly awards from the Little East Conference for their performances at the Bates Invitational and Multi. Sainis earned her third LEC Track Rookie of the Week award while the distance medley group was named the LEC Relay Team of the Week honor.

Sainis placed second in the 800 meters at Saturday's Bates Invitational with a time of 2:21.35 to move into 10th in program history in the event. Her converted time of 2:19.74 ranks 31st nationally for Division III and second in the East region. Sainis also earned the LEC Track Rookie of the Week award last week and after the Huskies' first home meet of the season back in December.

The distance medley team took first place on Saturday with a time of 13:26.91. Their converted time of 13:18.36 ranks 10th in Division III and is the best in the East region. The group is the first USM relay team to earn the conference's weekly award this season.

The Huskies will return to action on Friday, January 30 with a select group competing at John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University. The rest of the team will then be competing at Husky Invitational in Gorham on Saturday, January 31.
