BOSTON – Five members of the University of Southern Maine women's track & field team traveled to Boston on Friday to compete at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Freshman
Madi Sainis (Pierrefords, Quebec) moved into second on the program leaderboard for the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.95 to place 55th in the open section. She trails only program record holder Hannah Damron, who holds the top 13 times in program history.

Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy), the lone field event competitor for the Huskies at the event, placed 17th in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 3.36m

Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor), senior
Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) and freshman
Addy Burkhardt (Lisbon Falls, Maine), compete in the open section of the 400 meters. Karantza was the top performer from the group with a season-best time of 59.20 seconds to place 28th and win her heat. Burkhardt placed 41st with a time of 1:00.01. Young finished 55th with a time of 1:01.13 in her first collegiate 400-meter race.

The rest of the Southern Maine squad will be competing at Husky Invitational in Gorham tomorrow starting at 11:00 am.
