PORTLAND, Maine – Freshman
Keenan Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) and junior
Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) of University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team were awarded first place at Saturday's USM Cup at Riverside Golf Course after inclement weather forced an early end to the competition. Due to the stoppage, scores reverted to the first 13 holes of the competition, the last hole completed by each pair. This resulted in a three-way tie between the pairs of Buteau and Dillon, freshman
Ben Aucoin (Moncton, New Brunswick) and sophomore
Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford), and sophomores
Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) and
Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute). Each team shot a 50 (-2) through the first 13 holes. The tie was broken by a chip-and-putt competition to give Buteau and Dillon the event title.
