Men's Cross Country Riley Driscoll, Athletic Media Associate

Michael Cyr and Cyrus Evans Named 2025 Southern Maine Men’s Cross Country Captains

GORHAM, Maine – Senior Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) and junior Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) have been named team captains for the 2025 University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's cross country season.
 
A Health Sciences major, Cyr placed 15th at the last season's Little East Conference Championships with a personal-best 8k time of 26:44.7. The placement was one spot away from All-LEC honors for a runner who has finished in the top 25 in each of his three seasons. He placed 21st as a freshman in 2022 to earn the LEC Rookie of the Year award and finished 18th as a sophomore in 2023. Cyr has also been a consistent performer at the regional championship meet with three top 100 finishes. Beyond cross country, Cyr earned Third Team All-LEC honors in the 3000 meters at the 2025 LEC Indoor Championships. He is a two-time William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
Evans placed 26th at the LEC Championships last season with a personal-best 8k time of 27:04.9. Like Cyr, Evans finished in the top 100 at the 2024 NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships by placing 82nd. He has competed in 12 meets during in his cross country career. Evans also has five All-LEC citations from indoor and outdoor track including the 2025 indoor title in the 600 meters. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
The Huskies open the season on Saturday at the Ron Ouellette Invitational hosted by the University of New England.
