Cahill, Carrolton, D’Amico, Drummey and Duplessie Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

GORHAM, Maine – Five members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's cross country and track & field program have earned 2024-2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Earning the academic distinction were graduate student William Carrolton (Bath, Maine/Morse), seniors Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) and Jordan Duplessie (Caribou, Maine), and juniors Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H) and Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee).

To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. They must also have a rank in the Top 50 in their region in a single event (XC, indoor or outdoor). Selected by College Sports Communicators, the Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Carrolton and Drummey will now advance to the Academic All-American ballot.

Cahill, a Studio Art major, earned Academic All-District honors last season as well. He won the Little East Conference title in the 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor conference championships and won an indoor title with the Huskies' 4x400 relay team. Cahill also placed second in the 400 meters at the indoor LEC Championships and ran on a 4x200 relay team that placed third. His personal-best 400-meter hurdles time of 53.90 seconds ranked fifth in the Division III East region to earn him U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors.

Carrolton qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships this past season and earned Second Team All-American honors by placing ninth in the discus with a throw of 47.49m. His All-American performance capped off a tremendous outdoor season that saw him win the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) title in the discus with a program-record throw of 53.29m. He also broke the program record in the shot put with a throw of 15.78m to place second at the LEC Outdoor Championships. During the indoor season, Carrolton won the LEC title in the shot put with a mark of 15.42m and placed third at the DIII New England Championships with a mark of 15.67m to set a new program record. A graduate student in the Policy, Planning, & Management program, he earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in indoor and outdoor shot put and in the discus. He is now a two-time Academic All-District honoree.

A Cybersecurity major, D'Amico won the first LEC title of his career by placing first in the pole vault at the LEC Indoor Championships with a mark of 4.30m. He also earned Second Team All-LEC honors in the outdoor pole vault and Third Team honors in the 60-meter hurdles. A versatile athlete, D'Amico earned All-Region honors in the heptathlon and decathlon in 2024-25 and ranks in the top 10 in program history in each event. This is his second time earning Academic All-District honors.

Drummey, a Second Team All-American in the pole vault at both the indoor and outdoor national championships in 2024-25, has earned Academic All-District honors for the third time in his career and has advanced to the Academic All-American ballot. He was previously named a Second Team Academic All-American for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Drummey won the sixth LEC pole vault title of his career this season by placing first at the outdoor conference championship meet with a mark of 4.93m. He also earned All-Region honors in both the indoor and outdoor versions of the event. A seven-time All-American, Drummey graduated with a degree in Nursing.

Duplessie, an Environmental Science major, also earned Academic All-District honors in 2022-23. He ended the indoor season ranked 18th in the East region in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:17.13. He also set personal bests in the 3000 meters (8:54.90) and 5000 meters (15:17.13) during the indoor season. Duplessie was the top finisher for the Huskies at the 2024 NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships with a time of 26:55.8 to place 66th.
