CASCO, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team took first place on Wednesday afternoon at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine at Point Sebago Golf Course. The Huskies posted a team score of 308 (+20) led by sophomore
Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional). Grant had four birdies on his way to tying Southern Maine Community College's Will Farschon for the lowest round with a 71 (-1).

Keenan Buteau (Scarborough, Maine), also had top five finishes after tying for third. Each player, along with Owen Lee from the University of New England, shot a 75 (+3). The Southern Maine B team had the second-best team score at 311 (+23).

On the Course:
- Grant was three-under par 33 through the first nine holes after recording birdies on four of the first eight holes.
- Dillon and Buteau each had two birdies.
- Sophomore Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and freshman Ben Aucoin (Moncton, New Brunswick) tied for sixth. Each player shot a 76 (+4) and had two birdies.
- Sophomore Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) placed 18th with an 80 (+8).
- Junior Finn Sharpe (Durham, Maine/Freeport) and sophomore Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) each shot an 81(+9) to tie for 19th.
- Senior Curan Bassingthwaite (Gorham, Maine) tied for 25th with an 85 (+13).
- Sophomore Carter O'Connell (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) tied for 29th with an 86 (+14).
- Senior Sam Farr (Gorham, Maine) shot an 87 (+15) to tie for 34th.

The next event for the Huskies will be the USM Cup on Saturday at noon at Riverside Golf Course in Portland. The USM Cup is an annual modified format event that features six holes of scramble, six holes of best ball, and six holes of alternate shot with each team dividing in three scoring pairs.
