PORTLAND, Maine – The defending Little East conference men's golf champion University of Southern Maine Huskies began the 2025 season with a dominant performance, carding 296 (+8) as a team to defeat Saint Joseph's College of Maine and UMaine Farmington. Two Huskies, sophomore
Alex Fournier (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and junior
Finn Sharpe (Durham, Maine/Freeport), were the event co-champions after each player shot par. Fournier had a pair of birdies on the day plus an eagle on the third hole. Sharpe, who competed as part of the Huskies' B team, had three birdies.

The Southern Maine B team had the second-best team score at 300 (+12) followed by Saint Joseph's (331, +43) then UMaine Farmington (371, +83).

On the Course:
- Sophomore Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) fired a 73 (+1) and was the only player besides Fournier to log an eagle. He also had three birdies.
- Senior Curan Bassingthwaite (Gorham, Maine) and sophomore Owen Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) tied for fourth after each shooting a 74 (+2). Moore's round included five birdies while Bassingthwaite's included two.
- Freshman Keenan Buteau (Scarborough, Maine) tied for seventh with a 77 (+5) in the USM debut. He finished the day strong with two birdies on the final four holes.
- Sophomore Carter O'Connell (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) placed ninth with 79 (+7) and had one birdie.
- Junior Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) tied for 10th after shooting an 80 (+8) with two birdies.
- Freshman Ben Aucion (Moncton, New Brunswick) placed 12th with an 83 (+11).
