NEW LONDON, Conn. – Graduate student
Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine) broke his own University of Southern Maine program record in the 100-meter dash with a time 10.43 second to post the top preliminary round time at the NCAA Division III New England Championships. Shain's time ranks in the top 15 in NCAA Division III this season. He will run again tomorrow in the finals of the event.

The Huskies ended the first day of the competition tied for 18th out of 24 scoring teams with six points from a third-place finish by fifth-year senior
Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) in the pole vault. Drummey cleared a season-best height of 4.94m and ranks in the top 15 in NCAA Division III.

Marcus Tillery (Windham, Maine), sophomore
Dru Hyndman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) and juniors
Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) and
Christian Burke (York, Maine) also competed for the Huskies. Tillery placed 15th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.94 seconds. Hyndman placed 12th in the long jump with a mark of 6.63m. Burke leads the field in the decathlon with 3317 points thanks to first place finishes in the long jump (6.23m) and high jump (1.93m). He also placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.28 seconds and was fourth in the shot put at 10.75m. D'Amico is in fifth with 3016 points. His best performance came in high jump where he placed second with a mark of 1.87m.
