AMHERST, Mass. – Several members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's track & field team competed at the UMass Last Chance meet on Thursday evening. The 4x100 relay team of freshman

Albert Matrille (North Waterboro, Maine/Alvirne) and junior
DeAnthony Evans (Westbrook, Maine) placed third with a time of 41.67 seconds, the third fastest time in program history.
Graduate student
William Carrolton (Bath, Maine/Morse) and fifth-year senior
Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) each placed second in their respective event. Carrolton recorded a throw of 50.56m in the discus. His mark is the seventh best in program history. Drummey cleared 4.95m in the pole vault to match his season best.
The members of the relay team also ran well in their individual events. Shain clocked in at 21.43 seconds in the 200-meter dash for the second fastest time in program history and placed third. Tillery and Evans placed fifth and seventh in the 100-meter dash with times of 11.02 seconds and 11.42 seconds. Junior
Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H.) also ran for the Huskies and placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.22 seconds.
The list of qualifying athletes for the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be announced tomorrow evening with the top 22 declared athletes in each contested event earning a bid. Carrolton, Drummey and Shain are all expected to qualify. Carrolton is currently ranked fifth in the discus with a season-best throw of 53.29m. Drummey is tied for 11th in the pole vault at 4.95m. Shain's time of 10.43 seconds in the 100-meter dash ranks 13th nationally.
