WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Southern Maine 4x100 relay team of freshman Marcus Tillery (Windham, Maine), junior Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H.), freshman Logan Berube (Turner, Maine/Leavitt Area) and graduate student Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine) set a new program record in the event with a time of 41.64 seconds to place first at the Maine State Pine Tree Classic. The team's time ranks fourth in the NCAA Division III East region this season. The previous record of 41.70 seconds was set by the team of Trey Rogers, Jared Marshall, Jonathan Hendrickson and Zach Miller on May 6, 2017. Graduate student William Carrolton (Bath, Maine/Morse) also had an impressive day with a pair of event titles. Carrolton had throws of 14.28m in the shot put and 49.34m in the discus to win each event and earned the Frederick D. Tootell Memorial Award for the most valuable field performer.
 
The 4x800 relay team of sophomore Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue), sophomore Aidan Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine), fifth-year senior Jack Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine) and freshman Preston Gerry (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) also placed first in their event with a time of 8:14.62.
 
Junior Christian Burke (York, Maine) edged out teammate Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) for the decathlon title. Burke finished with 5,798 points while D'Amico had 5,715. They now rank third and fourth in program history in the event. Fifth-year senior Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) made his outdoor season debut and won the pole vault by clearing 4.55m.
 
The Huskies placed third in the team standings with 131 points.
 
Track Event Highlights:

• Senior Jordan Duplessie (Caribou, Maine) placed second in the 5000 meters at 15:50.66 while classmate Anthony O'Donnell (Portland, Maine/Deering) placed sixth with a time of 17:08.16.
• Junior Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) placed third in the 300-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:19.62.
• The 4x400 team of freshman Elijah DiRisi (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), sophomore Pashalis Pashaladis (Palo Alto, Cali.), sophomore Nate Brown (Palo Alto, Cali.) and senior Nolan Winslow (Poland, Maine) placed fourth with a time of 3:37.92.
• Cyrus Evans finished fifth in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 50.94 seconds. Junior Jon Dalessandro (Westbrook, Maine) placed seventh with a time of 52.98 seconds, a new outdoor personal-best. Sophomore Pashaladis also ran a personal-best at 53.91 seconds to place 11th.
• Junior DeAnthony Evans (Westbrook, Maine) placed eighth in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.23 seconds. Evans also placed 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.12 seconds. Senior Chris Hatch (Westbrook, Maine) and Winslow placed 13th and 14th in the 100-meter dash with times of 11.67 seconds and 11.70 seconds.
• Aidan Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine) and Gerry placed 13th and 15th in the 800 meters. Pecoraro's time of 2:00.11 is a personal-best while Gerry ran the race in 2:00.81.

 
 
Field Event Highlights:

• Sophomore Dru Hyndman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.61m.
• Senior Jacob Jackson (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) jumped 12.83m to place third in the triple jump.
• Freshman Trevor Amos (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and senior Konnor Simpson (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) placed fifth and sixth in the shot put with throws of 12.14m and 11.84m.
• Dalessandro placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.95m.
• Senior Kaleb Frey (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 38.66m. Amos placed 12th with a throw of 38.00m.
• Senior Scott Kaufman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) and Simpon each set personal-bests in the discus at 34.53m and 33.09m to place 15th and 16th.
