ORLANDO, Fla. – Graduate student
Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine) ran the second fastest 100-meter dash time in University of Southern Maine history on Saturday at the University of Central Florida Black and Gold Invitational. Shain placed 12th in the event with a time of 10.59 seconds, just behind his own program record of 10.58 seconds set on May 3, 2024 at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Shain, the lone NCAA Division III runner in the event, placed second in his heat ahead of NCAA Division I runners from the University of Maryland, Bethune-Cookman University, Yale University and the University of Iowa. Shain's program record was tied for 40th in NCAA Division III last season.

The next meet for the Huskies will be the Bates College Quad Meet on Saturday, March 29 in Lewiston, Maine.
