MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Senior
Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and junior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) are headed to Providence, Rhode Island after punching their tickets to the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament (March 14-15) following outstanding individual performances at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship this weekend at Wesleyan University's Bacon Field House.
Both Frost (149 lbs) and Craig (125 lbs) placed second in their respective weight classes to earn their spots in the NCAA National Championship tournament, while securing All-Region honors. Junior
Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue (NY)) narrowly missed out on NCAA berth finishing fourth overall at 141 lbs, but joined Frost and Craig in earning All-Region honors. The top three from each weight class earns a national tournament spot.
A 2023 All-American (fourth place) as a freshman, Craig is booking his third consecutive trip to the national championship tournament. Last season, Craig had to bow out of the championship early with an injury. Craig advanced to the regional championship semifinal after a strong 2-0 start on the first day of the tournament with a pair of wins by technical fall, the Huskies' junior secured his spot in the 2025 national championship with a hard-fought 7-3 decision over Castleton's Gavin Bradley. Ranked fifth nationally at 125 lbs, Bradley defeated Craig in the 2024 championship semifinal 7-4. Advancing to the championship bout against three-time defending national champion, and no. 1 ranked Joziah Fry of Johnson & Wales, Craig dropped the match by injury default and finished in second place. Now a three-time All-Region wrestler, Craig has a record of 26-5 heading into the national championship tournament.
Top-ranked in-region and in the nation at 149 lbs, Frost, a 2024 All-American (sixth place), cruised into the regional championship semifinal with a strong 2-0 start to the tournament on Saturday, including a win by fall, and a win by major decision. Looking to lock up his third bid to the NCAA national tournament, Frost came up against a familiar opponent Elijah Cyr of Castleton. Previously beating Cyr by major decision in November of 2024, Frost had two take downs in the second period to lead Cyr 6-3 heading into the third. Starting on the bottom for the final period, Frost quickly worked his way to an escape for a 7-3 lead before scoring his third take-down of the match for the 10-3 final. Advancing to the championship of the 149 bs bracket, Frost (No. 1) took on No. 2 Hayden Brown of Johnson & Wales, and dropped an 11-0 bout to finish in second place. Frost is carrying a record of 34-1 headed into the 2025 national championship. He is now a four-time All-Region wrestler, and three-time NCAA qualifier.

Bouncing back from a quarterfinal loss, Moore battled his way through the wrestle-back of the 141-pound bracket to fight for a third place finish and a spot in the national tournament. In the consolation quarterfinals, Moore dominated Williams' Tylor Stubbs 11-0 to move into the consolation semifinals against Trinity's Ty Trickle. In the semis, Moore took a win by injury default to set up a rematch against Wesleyan's Hayden Myer who had defeated Moore 13-5 earlier in the tournament. In a closely contested third place match, Moore took an 8-4 lead late in the first period with a reversal and near fall over Myer. Increasing his lead with an escape in the second period, Moore led Myer late in the third before Myer rattled off an escape, a takedown and a near fall in the closing seconds to rally for the 13-9 win. Moore's first place finish marks his best finish at the regional championship level, and his first All-Region honor.
