GORHAM, Maine  -  Adding another weekly honor to her resume, senior Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.  The D3hoops.com weekly program recognizes the top individual performances at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Recently named the Little East Conference, Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) and New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week, Christopher is the first Husky women's basketball player to earn D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors since Erin McNamara '14 earned the accolade on January 16, 2014.

Christopher was instrumental in two Little East Conference wins for the Huskies, averaging 25.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting a red-hot 72.0 percent (18-for-25) from the field. In a 64-47 win at UMass Boston, Christopher had 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists on 8-for-12 shooting.  In a 79-55 win over WestConn in Gorham, Christopher recorded her first career double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds shooting 10-for-13 from the floor, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range.

Through seven games, Christopher leads the Huskies in scoring averaging 18.3 points per game, and is shooting 53.9 percent (41-for-76) overall and 48.6 percent (18-for-37) from three.  She is adding 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

The Huskies are 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Little East Conference, averaging 75.6 points per game and shooting 44.4 percent as a team.  Including Christopher, three players are averaging double-figures: sophomores Lucy Wiles (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) 15.0 ppg and Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick) 12.9 ppg.

Southern Maine is back in action in its final home contest of 2025, hosting UMaine Farmington on Wednesday, December 10 (5:30 pm).  The Huskies close out 2025 with two road games at Albertus Magnus on Saturday, December 13 (2:00 pm) and at Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday, December 30 (4:00 pm)
