GORHAM, Maine - Senior
Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's basketball team has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the period ending December 7, 2025. Christopher is the first Husky to earn weekly honors from the LEC this season.
Christopher had a standout week for Southern Maine in a pair of Little East Conference wins, averaging 25.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Shooting a remarkable 72.0 percent (18-for-25) over two games, Christopher led the Huskies in a 64-47 road win at UMass Boston and a home win against WestConn 79-55. Against UMB, the 6-0 guard was 8-for-12 from the field, and 5-for-8 from three, for 21 points, adding eight rebounds, and two assists. Against WestConn, Christopher had 20 first-half points en-route to career-high totals in scoring with 30 points and rebounds with 10 for her first double-double as a Husky. Christopher finished the game 10-for-13 from the floor, and was an outstanding 5-for-5 from three-point range.
Through seven games, Christopher leads the Huskies in scoring averaging 18.3 points per game, and is shooting 53.9 percent (41-for-76) overall and 48.6 percent (18-for-37) from three. She is adding 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
The Huskies are 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Little East Conference, averaging 75.6 points per game and shooting 44.4 percent as a team. Including Christopher, three players are averaging double-figures: sophomores
Lucy Wiles (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) 15.0 ppg and
Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick) 12.9 ppg.
Southern Maine is back in action in its final home contest of 2025, hosting UMaine Farmington on Wednesday, December 10 (5:30 pm). The Huskies close out 2025 with two road games at Albertus Magnus on Saturday, December 13 (2:00 pm) and at Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday, December 30 (4:00 pm)
