GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and
Madi Sainis (Pierrefords, Quebec) of the University of Southern Maine women's indoor track & field track have each earned weekly awards from the Little East Conference. Barnes was chosen as the LEC Field Athlete of the Week. Sainis earned the LEC Track Rookie of the Week award.

Barnes set a new program record in the shot put on Saturday at the USM Alumni Open with a toss of 13.52m, a distance that ranks fourth in the NCAA Division III and leads the East region. She also won the weight throw with a mark of 15.39m and now ranks 23rd nationally in the event and third in the region.

Sainis was the top performer in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:12.24. She also ran with the Huskies' 4x400 relay team that placed second with a time of 4:38.29.

The Huskies return to action in 2026. The Huskies will send some athletes to the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition on January 7 before the bulk of the team opens 2026 at the USM Open II on January 10.
